  2. PROCOMM PLUS FOR WINDOWS HOST MODE HELP
  3.  
  4. Every user is presented the following menu after successfully logging
  5. on and viewing the optional news file.

  12. If the user has Level 2 privileged access, then the following lines are
  13. added to the prompt:

  19. A Host command is invoked by pressing the first letter of the command
  20. name; no carriage return is needed.  To download, for example, just
  21. press <D>.

  23.     Command     Description
  24.     -------     -----------
  25.  
  26. *   ABORT:      Terminates user and exits Host mode.  This has the same
  27.                 effect as pressing ALT-X on the Host keyboard.  The
  28.                 user is asked whether on not he would like to disconnect
  29.                 the line.
  30.  
  31.     CHAT:       Sounds the speaker on the Host PC (unless the beep
  32.                 sound has been turned off in Windows).
  33.                 If the Sysop presses OK, the Host PC enters Chat mode.
  34.                 Pressing ESCAPE will end the Chat session.
  35.  
  36.     DOWNLOAD:   The user is prompted for a protocol to use and then for
  37.                 the specification of the file(s) to download from the
  38.                 Host.  If the user has Level 2 access, a path may be
  39.                 included in the specification; otherwise, only files in
  40.                 the Host download directory (or the current directory if
  41.                 there isn't a download directory defined) are allowed.
  42.                 When a valid file specification is entered, the message
  43.                 "Begin your  ???????  transfer procedure"  is issued and
  44.                 the Host waits for the user to download the file(s) using
  45.                 the specified protocol.

  47.     FILES:      Prompts for a file specification (like DOS' DIR command)
  48.                 and displays a list of matching downloadable files.
  49.                 A user can cancel the file display by pressing N at the
  50.                 -MORE- prompt.  Level 2 users can view any directory by
  51.                 including a path in the file specification.
  52.  
  53.     GOODBYE:    Terminates the call.  Host can then recycle to answer the
  54.                 next call, perform external processing or abort (depending
  55.                 on the value of the Goodbye Option Setup field).

  57.     HELP:       Displays the ASCII text file HOST.HLP (if it exists).
  58.                 A user can cancel the help display by pressing N at the
  59.                 -MORE- prompt.
  60.  
  61.     LEAVE MAIL: The user is prompted for the following:
  62.                 To:                 (the intended recipient of the mail)
  63.                 Subj:               (the subject of the mail)
  64.                 Private Mail(Y/N)   (Y for private, N for public)
  65.  
  66.                 The user can then accept or re-enter the header information.
  67.  
  68.                 Once accepted, the user is placed in a line input mode
  69.                 (which continues until an empty line is entered).  When an
  70.                 empty line is entered, the user is prompted with:

  72.                 S)ave  A)bort  D)isplay  C)ontinue ?
  73.  
  74.                         Save:       Append the message to the mailbase and
  75.                                     return to the Main Menu.
  76.  
  77.                        Abort:       Erase the message and return to the
  78.                                     Main Menu (after confirmation).
  79.  
  80.                      Display:       Show text that's been entered and display
  81.                                     this prompt again.

  83.                     Continue:       Return to input mode.

  85.     READ MAIL:  The user is prompted to choose one of the following:

  87.                   F)orward read
  88.                   S)earch mail
  89.                   I)ndividual read
  90.                   Q)uit
  91.  
  92.                 Forward read:       Sequential multiple read.
  93.                                     Prompts for the beginning message
  94.                                     number and displays all accessable
  95.                                     messages starting with that number.
  96.  
  97.                  Search mail:       Selective sequential multiple read.
  98.                                     Asks for a field to search, a target
  99.                                     string to search for and the beginning
  100.                                     message number for the search.
  101.                                     Host displays all accessable
  102.                                     messages which match the search
  103.                                     criteria.
  104.  
  105.                         Quit:       Return to the Main Menu.

  107. *   SWITCH:     Allows the level 2 user to change directories on the HOST.
  108.  
  109.     TIME:       The time the user connected is displayed, followed by
  110.                 the current time and the elapsed time for this call.
  111.  
  112.     UPLOAD:     The user is prompted for a protocol to use for the
  113.                 transfer, the file specification and a short description
  114.                 of the file.  Host then waits to receive the file (using
  115.                 the specified protocol) to upload.  Files are placed in the
  116.                 Host mode upload directory (if one has been specified in the
  117.                 Setup facility); otherwise, they're saved in the current
  118.                 directory.  Level 2 privileged users can upload to other
  119.                 directories (if they use a protocol that doesn't transfer
  120.                 filenames and they specify a path with the name).
